I personally think records are pointless. It almost makes me feel sorry for people who grind speeds 24/7 hoping for a record. I've been dunging since it was released, never took a break longer than a week and I still do it for fun.
But of course we have countless examples of people who invented the dg records and used them to make them seem 'best dungers ever'. Now they have lots of pages of records like #1 #2 #3 #4 #5 #6 #7 in every theme probably every complexity and size then every boss and level mod for the sake of owning records. At the end of 2011 grinding speeds was actually fun and done by over 200 dungers every day, back then the difference between us was way bigger than now and there was only 1 #1 - fastest floor.
This poll was made to show how stupid the dungeoneering community has become. I must say I'm very disappointed. Lots of new people have started dunging and thought that they must be very proud of having records. I'M HERE TO SAY THAT'S COMPLETE BULL SHIT. I've had enough records and I must say I never gave a fuck about getting them... unlike most people I got records by simply dunging not grinding speeds yet that makes me no better than them and someone who owns records can't prove he's any better than other dungers.
If you are the best dunger ever doesn't mean you will get a record, you need a good map. I saw lots of people complaining about other dungers who they consider to be worse than them but who get amazing maps and that seem to be only reason they get records.
All in all, you need no skill to get a record, an average map shows same skill as a record, the only difference is that a record needs a lot of luck (a good map). I believe the only way to know if someone's good if by actually watching his POV of a dungeon (Corny huggles Warfare52).
Unfortunately everyone who has 'records' nowadays is an ego bastard because they all think having records will make them good and will ALWAYS flame people who they consider not good enough to get records. I think we all know how when axelp68 got an amazing map and got #1 floor but with a leech in team every single bastard flamed him and got like 69 dislikes on his vid.
