Something that really has been frustrating me over the course of the last few weeks is how frivolous people are treating rank upgrade trials.
When you trial someone for a rank upgrade, you are NOT simply seeing if that player is good enough for the rank. This is MUCH too subjective, DOES NOT help the player improve, DOES NOT maintain the prestige of the rank- in fact, it undermines it.
You must compile every error you see during the floor in a list. You must give general feedback and conspecific advice (i.e. your errors on this part stem from this broader mistake).
MAVEN IS NOT AN EASY RANK.
Do not accept a player for Maven unless their ability FAR SURPASSES that of Keyer, and these players are capable of achieving records.
Remember, you're not there to coddle the player and only check to see if the player is doing well. Your job is to discern the mistakes, no matter how subtle.
GIVE FUCKING FEEDBACK. No-one is perfect. Even if the player passes their trial, you should be giving them at least a couple things to improve on. If you can't find ANYTHING for a player to improve on, maybe you shouldn't be reviewing people.
Screenshots are FLEXIBLE. Don't be too strict on screenshots; the main thing is the trial. In order for a player to pass their trial, they must demonstrate everything YOU judge as important for said player to obtain the rank.
Try to be professional when you post feedback. You guys are staff. You guys have an obligation to be professional and impartial.
Also, because I know a lot of people have acquired ranks due to nepotism, we have a new rule:
YOU MAY NOT TRIAL YOUR FRIENDS
If you glean anything from reading this thread it is the above rule.
Don't let me down guys! Don't be afraid to fail people.
I will personally trial all clan members that everyone is friends with. I will not go easy on any of them, don't worry! Deputy owners can trial these people.
