Trialing players for rank upgrades? How?
The exact method you use for your trial is up to you. However, the player must key the floor, regardless of whether the rank being trialed for is Carrier, Keyer, or Maven.
For a player to qualify for the Carrier rank, they must be reasonably competent in their trial. If you can, try to put them in tricky or complicated situations. Remember that micro is not a huge concern- the main thing here is map awareness. A Carrier should be able to take the initiative and run something that isn't gated, they should be asking questions, they should be aware of how the map is turning.
For a player to qualify for the Keyer rank, they must be very competent in their trial. Again, micro things like luring warriors or switching to desp aren't really relevant to the rank. A Keyer should be able to organize the map and prioritize their gating effectively. They should have all the requirements of Carrier, as well.
For a player to qualify for the Maven rank, they must demonstrate extreme ability in their trial. Their micro and macro are important. They should be able to quickly and efficiently do all puzzles. They should be able to survive micropaths by picking up food. They should have the map organized at all times. If they make a mistake, they fail their trial.
Remember that, players dung with certain styles and if a player makes a stylistic choice that you don't necessarily agree with but doesn't impact the floor overall, you must overlook it.
If a player fails their trial, you must post so on their forum thread. If they're awful, they must wait until you deem them capable for another trial. If they're only slightly sub-par, they must wait one week. This is an absolutely crucial step.
